Twist Out vs Braid Out

There are plenty of ways to style your natural hair, but twist outs and braids outs are high on the list for new and veteran naturals. Since both of these styles are so popular, I decided to basically do a battle with the curl pattern that you get with a twist out vs a braid out.

How to Get The Most Definition?

 

Start on freshly washed, WET hair. You don’t have to go overboard on product, but make sure to coat all strands if possible. The smaller the section, the more definition and usually the longer the style lasts.

Your nighttime routine can really make or break any style quickly; trust me, I know, lol. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to tie my hair up at night to get the maximum time out of my style. I am NOT a nightly re-twist, re-braid kinda girl, so figuring out the best way possible to sleep on my hair without messing it up is high on my list of things to master. Sleep sitting up? Ha!

Tip: If your twists unravel, or get really puffy, try twisting in the opposite direction.

 

Texture Difference

 

They do look a little similar, so I could get away with wearing the results side by side.

•Twists to the left or top. Braids to the right or bottom•

•I use perm rods because my hair does not naturally coil at the ends•

•With a braid out, you get more of a crinkly french fry type of curl pattern. With a twist out, you get more of a spiral curl•
