When it comes to curly crochet hair, you can’t reuse it like you can with some braids or twists. Since you can’t reuse it, the best way to get the crochet hair out, quick, is to cut it. In this post I’m gonna be showing you how to remove crochet braids, safely.
For me, I went in and cut my crochet hair in big chunks… getting rid of almost all the length. After all the length was gone, I went in again and cut it even shorter… as close as I could to the knots. If you don’t cut the hair you’ll waste a lot of time. Crochet hair is synthetic, so it’s gonna get tangled and matted. By not cutting the hair, you’ll have to get through all those tangles and who wants all that extra work? Not me.
The longer you wear your crochet hair, the looser your braids underneath get. When you cut the crochet hair, make sure to stay on TOP of your cornrows and not under, since they’ll be loose. You don’t want to cut your real hair.

Once the length is gone, I went in and cut it even shorter…as close as I could to the knots.
I thought I looked pretty cute with the short hair, but I’ve done that before and it wasn’t my fav.
Feel around for the top of the knot and gently tug. If it doesn’t come right out, mess around with it a bit and it should slide right out. Since this was my first crochet braid style, I tried a bunch of different knots. Some knots are easier than others to remove.
This is about how short the pieces will be since you cut the hair so short.

Usually when I detangle my hair its a nice amount and I’m like, okay, whatever. This time I was slightly concerned, but my hair is completely fine.
