Mohawks have never been my thing, but I decided to try it out one more time, and surprisingly, I kinda enjoyed the results of my bun hawk, at least for a few days. I have seen a lot of naturalistas do tutorials for mohawk / bunhawk styles, and I always like the way they turn out, so I decided to try it. ( Natural hairstyle bun hawk ). I wasn’t really feeling the full bun-hawk look alone, so I jazzed up the style with a side-swept bang.
This is a recreation from @IAMAWOG on YouTube. Watch her style her daughters hair here!
Steps to Creating Your Bun Hawk on Natural hair
• I started off with freshly washed and conditioned hair. After washing my hair, I moisturized it and put it into chunky braids so that the buns for the style would have a crinkly texture to it after the braids are taken down.
• Section hair into 4 sections… side to side.
• Use gel or your moisturizer of choice to smooth down the sides as you are brushing each of the 4 sections into 4 ponytails
• Roll the hair from the 3 back ponytails upwards, towards the front of your head, and then secure with bobby pins
• For the top ponytail, which is the biggest section, split it into two.
• The back half of the top ponytail should be rolled towards the back of your head
•The top half of the ponytail should be lightly pulled forward, rolling the ends to create a side bang secured with bobby pins.
Would you wear your hair like this?
