By the time he was an 8 month old, I started to realize just how strong babies really are. Have you ever tried to take something out of a baby’s hand that they didn’t want you to have? Wow!
Sing, the movie, has been his obsession for the month.
Eating
I started to introduce crackers, which was the physically the hardest thing. I was so nervous to give it to him since he didn’t have any teeth, but boy he loved them.
I’m always scared he’ll choke on new foods, but I give myself “refresher courses” on baby CPR and First Aid regularly. Here is a playlist I created on YouTube of videos for baby CPR / First Aid.
Speaking of being scared… keep reading.
Urgent Care Visit
Woooooh… He had an allergic reaction to either eggs or peaches. It was one of the scariest things because the way he was acting was all off. I gave him eggs for breakfast since that’s what I was eating. A few hours later, I tested out a few peaches. After he the peaches, he took a nap. When he woke up, I knew something was wrong. Usually when he wakes up, it takes him no time to start moving around and fully wake up, but this time when he woke up and he was so lethargic, he could barely crawl. He wasn’t wheezing or anything like that, he just wasn’t himself. I held him for a little bit and was talking to him trying to get him to wake up fully.
I just so happened to look down at the back of his neck and seen a bunch of welt-like bumps. After he wasn’t coming to, I quickly went and put the new car seat in the car, went back in the house, grabbed him and was on my way to the local urgent care. They ended up giving him liquid steroids and a prescription. We sat there for a bit and we were on our way.
Earlier in the day, I had taken apart his infant car seat because I was transitioning to the Graco Milestone (Kline) convertible car seat and luckily I had read the directions on how to install the new car seat into the car ( which is very easy by the way ) because his infant car seat had to be re-threaded and it’s not something I could’ve done in 2-3 minutes. If you’re taking one car seat out to transition, put the new one in RIGHT AWAY. I had only taken the old car seat apart because I was trying to wash the cover.
Crawling
Still crawling, but that’s okay, because I know once he starts walking, he’ll be all over the place.
Bathtime
He loves showers and likes to put his hand under the water as it’s coming from the shower head.
Thanks for reading his 8 month update. If you missed his 7 month update, check it out so you can see his progress.
