Can someone call the baby police?! How is he a 10 month old already?
Mobile Baby
It’s like this month he figured everything out on his own that I had been trying to teach him. I try to maneuver his body to so he can get down the stairs and off of the couch, but he wasn’t ready at the time. When he was ready, he got it, by himself. Everything is on his own time.
I keep the baby gate up, so he doesn’t get much practice on the stairs, but when I step over the baby gate to go upstairs, I’ll put him down so he can go up the stairs himself. One day I sat him down at the top and he was reaching for me, I told him, “nope.” I then proceeded to twist my body and show him how to go down. He did it right after I did, honestly, I was surprised. Now there’s no stopping him.
He knows how to get down off the couch, the ottoman, and doesn’t realize how far the fall is from the bed to the floor, so I’ll let him get close to falling off, and then grab him to put him on the floor.

Walking
One thing he really loves now, is being outside. I’ll put his shoes and some pants on and he just wants to crawl around outside on the ground. Since he’s figuring out the whole walking thing, I tell him walking outside is the wrong place to test it out.
Out of nowhere, he just decided he was ready to take on the world by himself…ie, walk. He gets sooooooooo excited.
I recently seen a post that said, “When a child is learning how to walk and falls down 50 times, they never think to themselves, “Maybe this isn’t for me.” This saying is absolutely true. He literally fell like, 5 times, back to back, but each time, he got back up and was so determined to get it. Although he kept losing his balance, he had the biggest smile on his face, because he knew he’d get it.
Breastfeeding and Solids
He’s still breastfed, eating baby food and still getting “real food” when I cook.
He’s been trying to feed himself for a long time now, but usually his food is pureed, so you think I’m gonna give him a spoon with loose food on it? I think not, lol. Even though some foods are messy, like lasagna, I mush it with a fork and just let him feed himself, since that’s what he prefers.
It’s like one day he wants to eat food and some days he just wants milk. He seems to really enjoy those baby food pouches with the straw. Since he’s always trying to do everything on his own, he figured out how to use that straw on his second pouch. I’m sure he would’ve figured it out with the first one, but I was holding it and squeezing it into his mouth instead of letting him hold it.
Snacks that he can feed himself are his favorite; he’s like, mom, I got this, lol.
Sleeping
He still wakes up throughout the night and I can probably count on one hand the amount of nights he slept through without waking up. He takes maybe one or two naps during the day, usually short, but he may sleep for 3-4 hours for one of the naps. I’ve tried the cry it out method and it’s not that it bothers me, but he does not let up… He just wants milk and he’s out like a light.
When he gets up in the middle of the night, we both lie down while he drinks his milk, and he ends up sleeping with me. I am more comfortable with this now that he’s a little older. I mentioned in a previous update that it is unsafe, which co-sleeping can be, but he doesn’t sleep as wild anymore, so now he sleeps with me every night; since Derrick is deployed.
Bathtime
His poop seems be harder some days and for one poop, he may go through three or four diapers. Sometimes he has a hard time getting it all out. So he may poop a little and then won’t finish until an hour later. I’m not just gonna leave that dirty diaper on him for that long, so that’s where the 3-4 diapers come into play.
He still gets his butt rinsed with the shower and then into the baby tub he goes for a wash up.
The last couple days before he turned 10 months old, his poop has become really loose, which hasn’t been normal for quite a while, diarrhea, I think, which I’ve heard different views on whether or not diarrhea is a sign of teething. One day he was in his highchair and I just hear something really wet, and I just knew it was coming out of his diaper, which it did….blah. Two days later he was in his car seat, I went to take him out and I just thought he was sweating really bad, nope, poop, and later that same day, it happened again. This lasted for 4-5 days then it started to “thicken” up..
He’s used to me washing his hair and is so relaxed while he drinks milk straight from the source. To wash his hair, I sit on the side of the tub with my feet inside the tub. I lie him on his back, across my lap, and use a measuring cup to wet, wash, and rinse his hair.
Was your baby walking by the time they became a 10 month old?
Thank you for taking the time to read this months update. Until next time…
